Rejected petition: Replace compulsory GCSE English and Maths with inclusive qualifications
Rejected on
Require the Government to replace compulsory GCSE English and Maths requirements with a flexible qualification system that includes recognised alternatives, such as vocational qualifications, coursework and other assessment methods, to promote equality of opportunity and improve social mobility.
Many neurodiverse pupils face barriers with traditional exams despite having the ability to succeed. We want recognised alternatives to GCSE English and Maths, including vocational qualifications, coursework and other suitable assessment methods, with greater flexibility to access alternative education settings where appropriate. We believe this would improve equality of opportunity, social mobility, employment and economic growth.
