Stop the proposed dredging of 850,000 tonnes of contaminated seabed in Falmouth Bay. Protect marine life, water quality, fisheries and wild swimming. We call for no capital dredging and a revised, environmentally sustainable redevelopment that safeguards our internationally protected waters.
Plans to dredge 850,000 tonnes of seabed from Falmouth Bay could disturb sediments containing TBT, lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, copper, nickel, zinc, chromium, PCBs, PAHs and petroleum hydrocarbons. These pollutants can persist in the marine environment and threaten wildlife, fisheries, water quality and recreation. We call for no capital dredging and a genuinely sustainable redevelopment.
