Open petition: Remove the age cap on the Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE)

Created by Nicholas Stanhope Kellett
Closes on

We want the Government to remove the maximum age limit of 60 to be eligible for tuition fee loans under the Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE), ensuring that adults of all ages have equal access to higher education and skills training.

We believe restricting Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE) loans to the under-60s is ageist and undermines true lifelong learning. As people work longer and state pension ages rise, continuous upskilling is vital for older adults. We feel barring those aged 60+ from tuition loans ostracises a growing demographic, blocks career transitions, and sends a harmful message that older citizens' personal development no longer matters. We urge the government to remove this age cap immediately.
