Rejected petition: Enable secure sharing of NHS records wherever patients receive care.

Rejected on

One NHS. One System. Patients shouldn't have to repeat their medical history or travel miles because hospitals can't securely share records. We call on the UK Government to enable secure NHS record sharing, improving patient safety and ensuring joined-up care wherever it's needed.

Families across the UK are forced to repeat medical histories, carry paperwork or travel long distances because NHS hospitals cannot always securely access records held elsewhere. For people with rare or complex conditions, this can delay treatment and affect patient safety. In 2026, we have the technology to bank online, access digital passports and securely share sensitive information. Yet NHS hospitals still struggle to access the information that could be critical to a patient's care.
