Rejected petition: Parents who abandon children to be charged with neglect

Rejected on

I would like any parent who willingly abandons and denies a child's existence to be charged with child neglect and a mandatory DNA test to be taken out. Any parent who knowingly has no input in the child's life and financially abuses the child by lying about income to receive a criminal conviction.

I would like a law to be passed that any parent who willingly abandons, denies or financially abuses their child/children be charged with child neglect. If the sole parent/carer did this then they would face a criminal conviction therefore these rules should apply for an absent parent. I would also like it to be made mandatory for a parent who denies paternity or the child exists to have a compulsory DNA test.
