Open petition: Fund heart ultrasounds as part of NHS health check for those aged 45+
Created by Kaitlin Howey
Closes on
We call on the Government to fund heart ultrasounds to check cardiovascular health, as part of the NHS health check for over 45s. A British Heart Foundation study has shown an increase of an 18% spike in cardiovascular disease related deaths among working-age adults.
Early intervention can be critical and could significantly reduce heart attack/death. A someone who suddenly lost someone due to a heart attack, it pains me to think how this could have been intervened and potentially saved their life. I then thought about how many adults have their life cut short due to a cardiovascular issue that most people probably didn't know they had. The aim of this petition is for heart ultrasounds to be included as part of the NHS health check, potentially saving lives.
