Open petition: Mandate human auditing of police evidence processed by AI
Created by Jamie Johnson
Closes on
Mandate independent human auditing of all AI police evidence summaries. We believe automated triage of intimate victim data poses severe privacy risks and causes automation bias. AI must never replace human review or compromise critical victim confidentiality.
We believe the £75m PoliceAI rollout introduces severe judicial and privacy risks. Under new Home Office disclosure overhauls, algorithms could automatically summarize case files. This over-reliance could trigger severe automation bias, where overworked officers blindly trust machine output. If PoliceAI misses exculpatory evidence, we think trials could collapse under the 1996 CPIA framework, denying justice. Crucially, intimate victim data may face catastrophic privacy violations. We do not think weak internal guidelines can stop this.
