Rejected petition: Reform of SEND system to protect children with EHCPs to get a suitable education

Hold Local Authorities accountable for SEND failures. Ensure EHCP support is delivered, not just written,Set enforceable timescales for assessments and placements Reduce delays for neurodevelopment assessments.Prevent children being left without education during disputes
We call on the Government to reform SEND by holding Local Authorities accountable when they fail their duties, ensuring EHCP support is delivered, not just written. We need enforceable timescales for assessments and placements, more specialist school places, faster neurodevelopmental assessments, and guarantees that children are not left without education during disputes. Every child has a right to an education, and SEND children should not have to fight for the support they need.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly how you'd like the Government or Parliament to reform the SEND system, and what measures you would like the Government or Parliament to introduce to "hold Local Authorities responsible for SEND failures" and "ensure EHCP is delivered."
