Rejected petition: Amend road traffic law to strengthen drivers' duties after a serious collision.

Rejected on

We call on the UK Government to amend road traffic legislation to strengthen the legal duties placed on drivers following serious road traffic collisions.

The law should provide clearer guidance where there are obvious signs of a significant collision, including substantial vehicle damage, that would cause a reasonable person to suspect that a person may have been struck or seriously injured.
We believe these changes would improve public safety, encourage earlier emergency assistance for injured people, and provide greater clarity about a driver's legal responsibilities following serious road traffic collisions.
