Requiring all police vehicles to carry autism-friendly kits and AAC tools should paired with adequate training in the use of these life-saving tools for officers across the force. Recent incidents involving police officers and autistic people show force is often the default response. US police forces have used these tools to safely de-escalate situations. Officers should be equipped to communicate, protect autistic individuals, and prevent avoidable deaths.
