Open petition: Ban industrial developments being built next to any residential housing estates
Created by Michelle Sarah Bentham
Closes on
We call on the Government to amend planning policy to prevent B8 warehouses and any industrial developments being built next to residential housing estates. Mandatory buffer zones should be established to protect residents from noise, traffic, pollution, flooding & loss of residential amenities.
Large industrial estates approved before nearby housing is built, may attract few objections as future residents are not living there yet. Phased warehouse building can make cumulative impacts difficult to assess or object to. These industrial developments can bring 24/7 noise, HGV traffic, light pollution, flood risk and visual intrusion. Similar concerns have arisen in Corby and Tyldesley, while proposals at Bingham 46 and Towcester Park, we believe, risk repeating these issues.
