Open petition: Give families legal right to an independent investigation after a neonatal death
Created by Teresa Sherry
Closes on
Create a law, "Rosie's Right", giving families automatic legal rights to an independent investigation into a neonatal death where concerns about care are raised. We believe it will help ensure a baby's prognosis or expected chance of survival can't be used to deny families answers or accountability.
We are concerned that families can face significant barriers to accountability when a baby dies following neonatal care, particularly where survival was uncertain. We think the inability to prove a baby would have survived should never prevent concerns about their care from being fully and independently investigated. In our view our proposed law, Rosie’s Right, would help ensure every family has equal access to an independent investigation, regardless of prognosis, so lessons are learned and future babies are better protected.
