Open petition: Introduce the Right to Breastfeed and Express at Work

Created by Rachael Bews
Closes on

We call on the UK Government to align UK employment law with Article 10 of ILO Convention No. 183 by introducing a statutory right to paid breastfeeding and expressing breaks, together with suitable workplace facilities.

Breastfeeding parents in the UK have no statutory right to paid breastfeeding or expressing breaks at work. This forces many to choose between feeding their baby and participating fully in work. We call on the Government to align UK employment law with Article 10 of ILO Convention No. 183 by introducing paid breastfeeding and expressing breaks, together with suitable private facilities, to support maternal and child health, equality and workforce participation.
