We call on the Government to update DfT guidance and make it a universal default rule to allow motorcycle access to bus lanes. We feel fragmented regulations and conflicting signage create unnecessary confusion, leading to unfair fines for riders moving between different council boundaries.

Allowing motorcycles into bus lanes could improve road safety by reducing the need for risky traffic filtering. It could also ease overall congestion and lower emissions without hindering bus operations. We ask the Government to update national guidance and make bus lane access the default rule for motorcyclists.
