Open petition: Require parents pay for damage caused by their children and introduce penalties
Created by Noel Wong
Closes on
Teenage vandalism and anti-social behaviour are growing concerns for many. We want the Government to require parents to pay for any damage caused by their children, and to introduce meaningful penalties for serious or repeated offences, better victim compensation, and stronger early intervention.
We believe parents and guardians should also play a greater role in addressing their children’s behaviour. Where appropriate and legally justified, they should be expected to accept the consequences and provide full compensation arising from deliberate damage and expenses caused by their children.
