Open petition: Fund a free-to-use AI powered satellite crop & soil intelligence for farmers
Created by Mark Quested
Closes on
We want the Government to establish a free-to-use Crop & Soil Intelligence Service, using satellite data and AI to give every farmer and grower clear, field level info on nutrients, soil health, water stress and crop risks.
This would be a public digital information service for agriculture, analogous to weather forecasts and weather broadcasts to the shipping and fishing industries. Individually, this would provide farmers with actionable information to help improve yields and crop quality, whilst reducing costs by better targeting interventions. Collectively, it would be in the national interest to improve food security, nature recovery (esp. soil condition), and to understand and mitigate the impact of weather changes.
