Open petition: Recognise Electric Vehicles with 'Camp Mode' as leisure accommodation

Created by Stephen Leslie Birkett
Closes on

Update the 1960 Caravan Sites Act to let EV drivers sleep in cars with "Camp Mode." Current site licensing bans this due to outdated rules on engines. EVs run silently with zero emissions. We want councils to grant an EV exemption so we can use green tech for sustainable UK eco-tourism.

Current legislation prevents zero-emission electric vehicles (EVs) with dedicated "Camp Mode" software from being legally recognised as overnight leisure accommodation. Update the legal definitions within the Caravan Sites Act 1960 to officially recognise stationary, zero-emission vehicles with active climate-control software as permitted overnight.
