Rejected petition: Those convicted of killing emergency workers to be ineligible for early release
Rejected on
The Government should ensure that those who have been sentenced for the killing (either murder or manslaughter) of emergency workers are ineligible for early release. This can be done through amendments to legislation going through parliament in the autumn.
The Government has announced that people convicted of certain crimes will not be eligible for early release. However, those convicted of killing emergency workers are still eligible for early release under the existing proposals. This petition is to highlight opposition to this policy, ensuring that those found guilty of this offence are ineligible for early release.
