Open petition: Mandate Bold Labeling for SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) on Toothpaste Packaging
Created by Denise Higgins
Closes on
Require manufacturers of toothpaste and oral care products to highlight Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), a common allergen, in bold text in ingredient lists.
For many people, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) in toothpaste causes painful allergic reactions, including severe mouth ulcers and gum peeling. Yet it stays hidden in fine print. We want SLS clearly highlighted on toothpaste packaging and printed in bold on the ingredients list. Food labels highlight key irritants—toothpaste should too, preventing accidental, painful exposure.
