Rejected petition: Revoke under performing NHS food contracts and switch to a more capable supplier

Rejected on

It is all too common for food canteens within the NHS to provide poor quality food in low hygenine rated environments, I would like to propose looking at alternative suppliers for this who already provide high quality affordable healthy meals to the public, in good hygeine kitchens for example IKEA.

It recently came to my attention that there is at least one NHS cafe that as recently as May 2026 has been awarded a 0 food hygeine score, with what appears to be poor quality food. Whips Cross hospital has a cafe and restaraunt ran by the company Elior and whilst they may be one of the largest contract catering companies in the UK, I personally believe that NHS workers and visitors to the hospital deserve to eat much better food cooked in much more sanitary kitchens.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

It is for individual NHS trusts to decide how they manage their catering contracts, not the UK Government or Parliament.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
