Open petition: Appoint a Government Commissioner for Learning Disabilities
Created by Miss Kumlesh Kaur
Closes on
I would like the government to appoint a Commissioner for Learning Disabilities. Their focus would be on tackling inequalities faced by this under represented group within all aspects of life such as education, work, home, training, health in order to improve quality of life and life expectancy.
Appointing a Government Commissioner for Learning Disabilities would allow for specific government focus on improving the quality and length of lives for those that fall under this category. Although, it would encompass a broad range of areas to cover for responsibility, work in this area could be focused on one area then could gradually progress onto another. Working on preventable health inequalities which exist would make a great difference to their wellbeing.
