Open petition: Fund access to tumour treating fields devices for glioblastoma patients
Created by Suzy Eckford
Closes on
Fund access to tumour treating fields (TTF) devices like Optune for Glioblastoma patients. Other countries have and we think it's a disgrace that UK citizens are not able to access it on the NHS. Huge amounts are paid for other cancer medicines, so this type of treatment should be funded too.
TTF cancer therapy can extend the life expectancy of Glioblastoma patient by years. Some people in other countries have been wearing the device in excess of 10 years, without reoccurring tumours, yet it's not funded on the NHS. Private health insurance in the UK often funds it for their patients, and in our view, insurers would not fund it if there wasn't significant evidence of life extension! We think UK citizens are being abandoned by their government.
