Open petition: Reduce state pension age to 60 to create jobs for young people

Created by Clare Pickthall
Closes on

Reduce the state pension age to 60 years old. We think this change could create jobs for young people, reduce sickness and healthcare costs for older adults in the workforce, and reduce workforce strain due to sickness amongst older workers.

We believe this could also free up grandparents to contribute part time, if they wish, to childcare, thereby reducing government costs. It could also enable skilled pensioners to volunteer to support new apprentices in the workforce, reduce NHS costs, and open up jobs for young people.
