Open petition: Protect Good Landlords and Good Tenants: Establish a Tenant Registry

Created by A Nugent
Closes on

The Government should create a tenants registry to help improve screening, cut rent arrears disputes, and reduce pressure on courts by preventing avoidable non payment cases. This helps tenants prove good history and thereby rewarding good behaviour by faster and fairer vetting process.

We are asking the Government to introduce a compulsory National Tenants register, similar to the recently introduced compulsory Landlord's register. We believe a nationwide tenants registry would make renting fairer and more transparent. It would let landlords check reliable rental history and help good tenants prove their track record. By reducing avoidable rent arrears disputes and easing pressure on the courts, it supports a more stable, accountable housing system for everyone.
