Candidates for elections to Parliament should attend the Returning Officer's declaration of the result or forfeit their right to represent the seat.

People who wish to represent a constituency in Parliament should account for themselves and be present at the Returning Officer's announcement of the result of an election. We believe it's a basic courtesy to voters and fellow candidates.
