Rejected petition: Ban the Advertising and Promotion of Gambling in the UK

Rejected on

Ban gambling advertising across the UK, including TV, social media, apps, sports sponsorships and influencer marketing. Gambling companies should be allowed to provide legal gambling services without being allowed to normalise, glamorise and aggressively promote them.

In 2025, 49% of 11–17-year-olds saw gambling adverts on social media weekly, and 47% saw them on apps. 30% had spent their own money gambling in the previous year. A 2025 systematic review of 22 studies found gambling advertising was associated with increased gambling, spending and riskier behaviour. Gambling harm is a public-health issue and shouldn't be taken as personal choice.
