Open petition: Add the FA Community Shield to the listed events regime to make it free to view

Created by Ben Roberts
Closes on

For over a century, the FA Community Shield has been a symbol of unity & charity. Originally the Charity Shield, it raised funds for grassroots football & was free for all to watch. Pay per view excludes this. We call on the Government to ensure that the Community Shield becomes free to view again.

For over a century, the FA Community Shield originally the Charity Shield has been a symbol of unity, tradition, and charity, raising funds for grassroots football. For decades, it was free for all to watch on TV, embodying football’s inclusive spirit. In 2025 it became pay per view. Football is the people’s game, and its traditions should reflect accessibility and community. We call on the Government to ensure that the Community Shield is again free to view. Sign to reclaim our shield!
