Open petition: Make fire extinguishers mandatory in cars (in light of recent wildfires )

Created by Lewis slade
Closes on

Mandate car fire extinguishers now. The A31 New Forest van fire became a massive wildfire, burning 1.6 sq km of nature and tying up 169 fire engines. We urge the government to legally require mini extinguishers in all UK passenger cars to stop small vehicle sparks from causing huge disasters.

The recent A31 New Forest van fire shows why we need new safety laws. A small vehicle spark quickly became a massive wildfire, burning 1.6 sq km of nature. It destroyed rare habitats and put the forest’s famous wild ponies, cattle, and wildlife in grave danger. It took 169 fire engines eight days to stop. We ask the UK government to make mini fire extinguishers mandatory in all passenger cars. This simple tool will protect our roads, save taxpayers, and keep our animals safe.
