Open petition: Require schools report restrictive interventions to LAs after exclusions
Created by Kerry Georgia Langdon
Closes on
Require schools in England to report details of any restrictive interventions, including physical interventions, involving a pupil to the local authority whenever the incident results in a suspension or a permanent exclusion.
Schools should be required to record uses of restrictive interventions and inform parents when it results in a suspension or exclusion. There is no consistent national requirement to provide this information to the relevant local authority when the incident is linked to a suspension or permanent exclusion.
We want a statutory requirement to ensure local authorities are automatically informed, to help identify patterns, safeguarding concerns and additional needs, and ensure appropriate support is provided.
