We want the Government to introduce an emergency alert system that sends notifications to phones in the local area when a vulnerable non-verbal child goes missing. Alerts should help the public quickly identify and locate children who may be unable to communicate, recognise danger or ask for help.”
As a parent of three severely autistic, non-verbal children, I live with the constant reality that if one of my children wandered or escaped, they could be in serious danger within minutes.
Many autistic and other vulnerable children are at increased risk of wandering or eloping from their parent, carer, school or home. For a child who is non-verbal, has little or no awareness of danger and cannot communicate their name, address or who they belong to,
