Open Light Big Ben in Ukraine’s colours for the 5th anniversary of Russia's invasion

On the fifth anniversary (24 February 2027) of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Big Ben’s clock faces should be lit blue and yellow for the first time ever, sending what we feel would be a powerful message of solidarity with Ukraine.

The Elizabeth Tower (commonly called Big Ben) is recognised around the world as a symbol of British democracy. The clock lights can be changed to other colours, but never have been. We hope the war will end, but if it hasn't by 24 February 2027 (5th anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion), we ask that the clock faces are lit blue and yellow. We believe this would send a powerful message of solidarity with Ukraine, reinforcing support for our ally, those who have made the UK their home and those still on the front line.
