Open petition: Withdraw from the ECHR and replace with domestic human rights legislation

Created by Bernice Bates
Closes on

We believe withdrawing from the ECHR is necessary to ensure national security and protect British citizens from harm. The ECHR has repeatedly limited the government's flexibility to enforce robust immigration policies to deport illegal immigrants and criminal foreign nationals swiftly.

In our view, the Government has no effective deterrent to stop illegal immigration. An additional 3,003 crossed the channel in the first 3 weeks of the Prime Minister’s time in office.

The UK should leave the ECHR and establish an independent framework of human rights that balances individual freedoms with public safety and national interests. The ECHR to be replaced and managed under an independent, domestic British Bill of Rights tailored to national values.
