Open petition: Commission a new review into systemic and institutional racism

Created by Natalie Diana Busari
Closes on

We urge the Government to commission a new review to investigate systemic and institutional racism, engage with communities, and make recommendations for policy and legislative reforms, enhancing education, and supporting vulnerable groups, to combat racism and promote equality in the UK.

In our view, the 2021 Race and Ethnic Disparities report was not a full reflection of lived experiences. Since then, we believe further evidence has shown why a new review is needed. The 2023 Casey Review exposed serious failures in policing. The 2023 Black British Voices report highlighted distrust in education and healthcare. We are also concerned about NHS race inequality, ethnicity pay gaps, and how academia and media institutions can also fail vulnerable ethnic communities.
