Open petition: Amend the Firearms Act 1968 to allow security training for PAVA/Pepper Spray
Created by Jamie Hoult
Closes on
Amend the Firearms Act 1968 to allow appropriately licensed, vetted and trained security professionals to carry approved PAVA or incapacitant spray while on duty, subject to strict training, competency, accountability and lawful-use requirements.
Security professionals regularly work face-to-face with the public at events, venues, buildings and other busy locations, where they can face aggression or violence. Verbal de-escalation should always be the first approach, but words are not always enough. We believe properly trained and licensed security professionals should have access to PAVA as a regulated defensive option, subject to strict training, vetting, medical guidance, accountability and lawful-use requirements.
