Require every HGV operating on GB roads to use an approved commercial-vehicle satnav system and use this to calculate the route. We think this will reduce the number of bridge strikes and reduce damage to unsuitable roads.

Drivers to enter the vehicle's weight, height and width before a journey.

The system to use the dimensions when calculating the route & take account low bridges, weight limits, width restrictions & unsuitable roads.

To apply to all HGVs operating in Great Britain regardless of whether they are travelling in, entering/leaving GB or passing through.

The requirement to apply to vehicles irrespective of ownership and enforced by law.
