We call on the Government to review restrictions on rodeo and western sports in England and assess whether properly regulated events could be permitted under strict animal-welfare rules, veterinary supervision, independent monitoring and clear penalties for breaches.
Rodeo and western sports are established in countries including France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Brazil and the USA. England has a growing western community but limited opportunities for regulated competition. This petition does not seek to weaken animal welfare laws. It asks the Government to review current restrictions and assess whether suitable events could be licensed under strict welfare rules, veterinary supervision, independent monitoring and penalties for breaches.
