Rejected petition: Require safe, reliable gluten-free meals for people with coeliac disease

Rejected on

Require restaurants and food outlets to provide at least one safe, clearly identified gluten-free meal suitable for people with coeliac disease, with measures to prevent gluten cross-contamination and accurate information about availability.

People with coeliac disease need to avoid gluten and cross-contamination, yet eating out can be extremely difficult. Families often have to research restaurants in advance, travel long distances and still cannot be certain that advertised gluten-free food is available or safely prepared. My daughter has coeliac disease and we have experienced this first-hand, including being left without a meal when a gluten-free option advertised was not actually available.
