Open petition: Require VAWG safeguards in asylum and immigration policy
Created by Louize Clark
Closes on
Require VAWG risk assessments in asylum and immigration policy, publish anonymised nationality and immigration-status data for serious VAWG offences, and ensure foreign nationals convicted of serious VAWG offences are considered promptly for lawful deportation.
The Government has pledged to halve violence against women and girls and now gives asylum seekers guidance on consent, domestic abuse, child sexual activity and harassment. Yet national crime data cannot show VAWG offending by immigration status. If Government identifies a safeguarding risk, it should measure it, publish the evidence and act where individuals present a danger. Women and girls should be protected regardless of an offender’s nationality.
