Open petition: Mandatory smoke-free and vape free areas at outdoor concerts

Created by Henrietta Okonji
Closes on

I am calling on the Government to introduce legislation requiring organisers of open-air concerts, festivals, gigs and other ticketed outdoor events to provide clearly designated, adequately sized and enforced non-smoking and non-vaping areas for attendees. At the moment, there is no legislation.

This is NOT a call to ban smoking/vaping at outdoor events but rather a call for a fair system that provides designated areas for smoking and vaping while guaranteeing those who require it have genuinely smoke-free and vape free area.

In outdoor concerts and festivals, people can spend several hours in large, tightly packed crowds. Unlike on an ordinary street, attendees may not be able to move away from smokers and so be forced to inhale the fumes.

Do not leave this to organiser's discretion.
