Open petition: Review social media platforms actions on animal abuse, neglect and mistreatment
Created by Katie-May Scott
Closes on
We want the Government to review if social media platforms are acting on content depicting animal abuse, neglect or mistreatment. Platforms should remove such content, prevent creators profiting from it, review repeated incidents at account level and escalate serious animal welfare concerns.
Animals can be harmed, frightened, neglected or mistreated to create content for views, engagement or profit. We believe content created through animal abuse, neglect or mistreatment should not be permitted on social media platforms at all. Platforms should identify repeated welfare concerns across accounts, remove such content and prevent animal suffering being exploited for entertainment, attention or financial gain.
