Open petition: Review transparency and standardised labelling for pet food
Created by Camille Beaumont
Closes on
Review transparency of pet food labelling rules so consumers can make informed choices. Manufacturers should disclose individual ingredients, the proportion and origin of key ingredients, standardised nutritional information, and notify customers when recipes materially change.
We ask the Government to strengthen pet food labelling by requiring manufacturers to disclose individual ingredients, their proportions and origins, standard nutrition and processing information, and notification of recipe changes.
Labels should list ingredients by weight, state main ingredient percentages and origins, and use consistent standards for nutritional, health and processing claims. Government should also review an independent nutritional assessment framework for complete pet foods.
