Open petition: Call on the UN to launch a review into the location of the UN Headquarters
Created by Wafiullah Kakar
Closes on
We ask the UK Government to propose and support, through the United Nations, an independent UN review of whether their principal headquarters should remain in New York City or be relocated to what we believe is a more neutral host state, with Geneva in Switzerland considered as an alternative.
We believe the United Nations should guarantee unhindered access to its headquarters for all Member States and authorised representatives, regardless of their bilateral relations with the host nation.
We believe the UN headquarters’ long-term location should be reviewed against principles such as neutrality, diplomatic access, security, international accessibility and existing UN infrastructure. Our proposal is not directed against any particular country, but seeks to ensure the UN's principal home best serves impartial, multilateral diplomacy.
