Rejected petition: Introduce parent and child parking permits at birth or with child benefit
Rejected on
Introduce parent and child parking permits, issued when a child is born or when Child Benefit is claimed. This would provide a simple way to verify eligibility, reduce misuse of parent and child spaces, and make parking safer and more accessible for parents with young children.
Parent and child spaces are often misused by people who do not have children, including Blue Badge holders, leaving parents without suitable space to safely get children in and out of vehicles. A parent and child permit, valid until a specific age, would help deter misuse and make enforcement possible. Clear signage should explain that permits are required, with fines issued to anyone using these spaces without a valid permit.
