Change the law to require Clare’s Law applications involving serving police officers, police staff or other persons creating a police-related conflict of interest to be handled independently of the police, and strengthen mandatory training and confidentiality protections for Clare’s Law.

I am bringing this petition because of concerns about conflicts of interest, confidentiality and safeguarding where the subject is a serving police officer. I call for the law to require independent handling in such cases, better national training for police on DVDS, and clear statutory duties to record, investigate and independently review suspected confidentiality breaches. This would strengthen accountability and public protection.
