Open petition: Create an Independent Cruise Passenger Regulator and Strengthen Consumer Rights

Created by Jay Cannon
Closes on

We want the Government to establish an independent statutory regulator to protect UK cruise passengers, with powers to set and enforce minimum consumer standards covering cancellations, significant disruption, compensation, complaints, denied boarding and unfair treatment.

Around two million Britons cruise each year, yet passengers lack the dedicated regulatory protection available to airline passengers through the CAA. When cruises are cancelled or significantly disrupted, passengers can face substantial losses and be directed to travel insurers. With no dedicated regulator to independently hold cruise lines to account, we believe this significant gap in UK consumer protection must be addressed urgently.
