Created by Bronte Faulkner
Closes on
This petition calls for websites and online services to be required to accept apostrophes in surnames, ensuring people with names such as O’Rourke can enter their legal surname accurately and consistently across digital services.
This petition calls for websites and online services to be required to accept apostrophes in surnames. Many people have legally recognised surnames containing an apostrophe, yet some websites prevent them from entering their name correctly or remove the apostrophe automatically. This can cause inconsistencies with official documents, identification, banking, travel and other important services. People should be able to use their full legal name accurately and without unnecessary restrictions.
