Significant public funding is allocated to maintain free entry to major British museums for all visitors, including foreign nationals: £484m grant aid in 2024-25 alone. A solution is for museums to institute an entry fee for foreign nationals visiting these institutions like in other countries.

I am deeply aware of the current cost of living crisis affecting our nation. Significant public funding is allocated to maintain free entry to major British museums and cultural institutions for all visitors, including foreign nationals. Charging foreign nationals an entry fee is a fair and tested model already in place in several countries. This petition urges the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to conduct a feasibility study and consider implementing this change.
