Introduce legislation to cap the commission or service fees that Uber and other private-hire and ride-hailing platforms can charge drivers at a maximum of 20% of each passenger fare.
Private-hire drivers rely on ride-hailing apps for their income, but high and variable commission charges can leave drivers with too little after fuel, insurance, vehicle finance, maintenance, licensing and other costs. We believe drivers should receive a fairer share of the fares they earn. We ask the Government to introduce a maximum 20% commission or service fee for Uber and other ride-hailing platforms, with clear fare and commission information for every journey.
Why was this petition rejected?
