Open petition: Mandate availability of digital blue badges by law throughout the country

Created by Julia Gazdag
Closes on

Disabled parking permits are physical blue badges which require users to remember to display them. They're often stolen so cars with blue badges are more liable to break-ins. We feel digital badges (with an option of physical ones) would allow for safer street & public parking for disabled drivers.

There are digital parking permits available to those who pay for permits or parking fees, but drivers who hold blue badges have to rely on displaying the physical badge. The technology to enable digital blue badge permits exists, but implementing it isn't mandatory so it hasn't been. Disabled drivers are fined if they forget to display their badge, while drivers with digital permits don't need to remember them at all. Make both physical and digital badges available to blue badge holders by amending the law.
