Open petition: Require manifesto delivery plans & general election if not met

Require every elected UK Government to turn its manifesto into a measurable delivery plan with independent scrutiny, clear KPIs and milestones. Major deviations must be transparent and evidence-based, with consequences for persistent failure, triggering an early General Election.

Governments should be independently assessed against their published manifesto delivery plans, with clear performance thresholds and critical milestones established at the start of their term.

We believe persistent failure to meet these commitments should trigger a mandatory, independent review and a parliamentary accountability process. Any significant changes to commitments or performance targets should also be transparently justified using independently verified evidence. Where predefined failure thresholds are reached without sufficient justification, a formal mechanism should be established and triggered to enable an early General Election. We also want to ensure the Government does not have sole discretion to waive or redefine these requirements.
